Following a successful thirteen-year career as a mechanical design engineer and project manager with a world-leading packaging company, Erik Zimmitti joined Southport in 2007 to provide additional expertise in project management of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and life safety design.
Erik has worked in the hospitality, restaurant, and commercial buildings markets – designing engineering systems from initial calculations through installed system commissioning. He has extensive experience in retrofitting MEP systems at existing buildings, including utility infrastructure upgrades.
In addition to design, Erik is a key person in managing MEP coordination within a holistic building design between architects, building owners, and contractors. He also manages site QC functions with a hands-on approach to resolving coordination issues in the field.
Erik is also experienced in pipe corrosion analysis and is often relied upon by building owners to provide strategic advice regarding their critical plumbing infrastructure.
Erik is a registered professional engineer in the State of Connecticut, as well as a member of ASHRAE.
